ANTENNA AND CABLE CONNECTION VERIFICATION

Stella Doradus PortSense Technology

Automatic connection checking for professional cellular repeater installations

Stella Doradus PortSense is an integrated connection-verification technology designed to help installers confirm that antennas, RF cables and connectors in a repeater system are connected correctly. In compatible systems, visual LED feedback provides an immediate installation check, while PortSense status can also be monitored remotely through StellaControl.

Stella Doradus PortSense is especially useful in larger repeater systems where many cables, connectors, pigtails and service antennas are installed. It helps separate physical connection problems from RF-design issues before final coverage and isolation measurements are performed.

WHAT PORTSENSE DOES

Connection Verification from Repeater Port to Antenna

Stella Doradus PortSense checks whether the expected antenna connection is present on supported indoor and outdoor repeater ports and provides visual and remote confirmation of the connection status.

Connection Checking

Helps verify the physical RF path through the antenna, cable and connector chain before commissioning is completed.

White LED Confirmation

Compatible Smart Antennas and repeater ports use white LEDs to provide immediate visual feedback when the connection is correct.

StellaControl Monitoring

PortSense status can be viewed remotely, and supported systems can generate alerts if a connection fault or degradation is detected.

HOW IT WORKS

Local LED Verification During Installation

When a supported antenna is connected correctly, the white status LED on the Smart Antenna and the corresponding repeater-port LED illuminate. This provides the installer with a direct visual indication that the electrical connection path is present.

If the expected LED indication does not appear, the relevant RF cable, connector, pigtail or antenna can be checked before the installer proceeds with donor-signal measurements, antenna-isolation checks or final coverage testing.

  • Detect whether an antenna is connected to a supported repeater port
  • Confirm the connection locally through white LED indication
  • Identify cable or connector faults more quickly during installation
  • Reduce troubleshooting time in multi-antenna systems
INSTALLATION WORKFLOW

PortSense in Four Practical Steps

1

Connect the RF Hardware

Install the indoor or outdoor antenna, RF cable and connectors on the supported repeater port.

2

Check the White LEDs

Verify that the repeater-port LED and compatible Smart Antenna LED show the expected connection status.

3

Inspect Any Failed Path

If the expected indication is missing, check the cable, connectors, pigtails and antenna connection.

4

Continue RF Commissioning

After the physical connection is verified, continue with signal-level, isolation and indoor-coverage measurements.

REMOTE MONITORING

PortSense Status through StellaControl

Stella Doradus PortSense is not only a local installation check. On supported Stella Doradus systems, connection status can also be viewed remotely through StellaControl. This allows technical teams to detect a disconnected antenna, damaged cable path or other hardware-related issue after the system has entered service.

Remote visibility is particularly useful in large buildings, multi-floor projects, factories, warehouses and other installations where the repeater equipment and service antennas may be distributed across several areas.

Why Remote PortSense Matters

  • Connection status can be reviewed without an immediate site visit
  • Hardware faults can be separated from broader RF-performance issues
  • Maintenance teams can identify the affected repeater or antenna path more quickly
  • Alerts can support planned maintenance and service workflows
IMPORTANT DISTINCTION

PortSense Is Not an RF Signal Analyzer

PortSense verifies the physical connection chain. It does not replace RF survey, donor-signal measurement, antenna-isolation testing or indoor-coverage validation.

A PortSense LED can confirm that the hardware path is connected, but correct RF performance still depends on donor-signal quality, antenna placement, donor/service antenna isolation, cable losses, passive-component losses and the overall repeater-system design.
