POYNTING OMNI-0402 5G MARINE ANTENNA

OMNI-0402 5G Marine & Coastal MIMO Antenna

The Poynting OMNI-0402 is a 2×2 MIMO omnidirectional 5G antenna designed for yachts, boats and coastal facilities. It provides 5.8 dBi gain across 410–4200 MHz; its IP68 housing resists salt water and UV, and it comes with a 1-inch marine standard adapter.

What Is the Poynting OMNI-0402?

The Poynting OMNI-0402 is a 2×2 MIMO marine antenna with two antenna elements in a single housing. It provides two separate data streams to 4G and 5G routers at sea and on the coast; compared with single-port antennas, both speed and link stability increase significantly.

The 410–4200 MHz range covers LTE450 and the 700–900 MHz coverage bands at the low end, and the 3.5 GHz (n78) band widely used for 5G in Europe and Turkey at the high end. Low bands matter for reaching distant base stations offshore, while high bands matter for high speeds in marinas and close to shore. The antenna also supports 5G RedCap devices and works in the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

  • 410–4200 MHz ultra-wideband: 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and CDMA450
  • 2×2 MIMO, 360° omnidirectional coverage, 5.8 dBi peak gain
  • IP68 housing: salt-spray and UV protected, marine grade
  • 1-inch marine standard adapter included; optional 316 stainless steel brackets
  • Twin HDF-195 cable, 2 m, SMA (male) connectors

Why MIMO at sea? The signal reflected off the sea surface overlaps with the direct signal and causes sudden fades. Since the two antenna elements do not experience these fades at the same time, the router can always use the stronger signal; the link drops less often in rough seas.

If the router is far from the antenna, use low-loss cable for the extension; the loss of thin cables rises quickly at 3.5 GHz.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Poynting OMNI-0402

What is the difference between the OMNI-0402 and the OMNI-0291?

Both are marine and coastal antennas. The OMNI-0291 is single-port (SISO) and covers 450–2700 MHz. The OMNI-0402 is 2×2 MIMO and reaches up to the 3.5 GHz 5G band; it is the right choice for 5G routers and high speeds.

Which routers is it used with?

With most 4G and 5G routers that have two antenna inputs. The antenna terminates in SMA (male) connectors; if the router inputs are SMA (female) it connects directly, otherwise a suitable adapter is used.

Is it compatible with 5G RedCap devices?

Yes. The Poynting OMNI-0402 covers the bands used by RedCap devices. On RedCap devices with two receive inputs, both ports are connected.

How many kilometers does it connect at sea?

Distance is determined more by antenna and base station height than by antenna gain; beyond the radio horizon the signal falls off quickly. For details, see our 4G/5G signal range at sea page.

Where should I mount the antenna on the boat?

Mount it as high as possible on the superstructure, outside the radar beam and away from VHF antennas. Keeping it at least a few tens of centimeters from metal masts and surfaces preserves the radiation pattern.
