POYNTING XPOL TECHNOLOGY

XPOL Technology±45° cross-polarized 4G/5G MIMO antennas

Poynting XPOL separates MIMO channels by placing two antenna elements perpendicular to each other (+45° and −45°) in a single housing. From fixed wireless access to vehicle and boat connectivity, it delivers a more stable signal and higher data rates.

Technology

How does Poynting XPOL work?

In a conventional MIMO setup, the two antennas must be physically spaced apart. XPOL achieves separation through polarization instead of distance: the two elements sit at the same point, at 90° to each other.

Polarization diversity

Reflected signals change polarization. Two perpendicular elements give the receiver two independent signal paths; when one weakens, the other carries the link.

Low correlation, high MIMO gain

Because the channels are decorrelated, the modem can use two data layers at the same time, which means higher-order modulation (256-QAM) and higher speeds.

±45°: equal behavior on both channels

The slanted arrangement keeps both channels balanced under ground, building and sea reflections. Most base stations also transmit with ±45° antennas.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Poynting XPOL

Can a single XPOL antenna replace two antennas?
Yes. A 2×2 MIMO XPOL antenna carries two independent elements in a single housing and connects to the router's two cellular ports. 4×4 models have four elements and four cables.
How should I position an XPOL antenna?
Point the directional models (XPOL-2-5G-V3, XPOL-24-5G) toward the base station; there should be no obstacles such as buildings or trees in front of the antenna. For the omnidirectional XPOL-1-5G+, a high and open location is enough. Keep the cable short.
Do XPOL antennas also give an advantage in 5G?
Yes. 5G base stations also mostly use ±45° polarized antennas, and 4×4 MIMO is common. A detailed explanation is in the FWA polarization guide.
Which connector is used for the cable connection?
Fixed models usually come with a ready-made cable with SMA (male) connectors or with N-type female connectors. We can help you choose the right model or adapter for your router's connector type.
