MARINE CELLULAR COVERAGE

Stella Doradus Marine Repeater System

Professional 4G/5G mobile coverage for yachts, ships and other marine vessels
700 | 800 | 900 | 1800 | 2100 | 2600 MHz

The Stella Doradus Marine repeater is a multi-band professional solution designed to carry usable mobile operator signals from the coast into cabins, lounges, technical areas and other enclosed spaces on yachts, ships and other marine vessels.

The system can be built around the Stella Doradus iRepeater architecture and expanded with LineAmp units for large yachts and multi-zone vessels. This allows the available cellular signal to be distributed through a planned RF network and multiple indoor antennas across the vessel.

Stella Doradus Marine no SIM card required

No SIM Card Required

The repeater relays available operator RF signals and does not require a customer SIM card for the RF amplification function.

Designed and Manufactured in Ireland

Stella Doradus repeater platforms are engineered and manufactured in Ireland for professional mobile coverage applications.

RED certified Stella Doradus Marine repeater

RED-Certified Platform

Professional full-band repeater architecture designed for deployment under applicable European radio equipment requirements.

MULTI-BAND MARINE COVERAGE

5G, 4G, 3G and GSM Frequency Support

Supported cellular bands on the Stella Doradus Marine repeater depend on the selected model and the spectrum used by the mobile operators in the country or coastal region where the vessel operates.

Low-Band Coverage

700, 800 and 900 MHz bands can provide useful propagation characteristics for wide-area coastal cellular coverage where supported by the operator.

Capacity Bands

1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz bands can carry additional voice and mobile-data capacity, depending on the operator network and service configuration.

Carrier Aggregation

A multi-band repeater can relay several supported carrier bands simultaneously, helping preserve the operator's available carrier combinations onboard.

HOW IT WORKS

From Coastal Base Stations to Indoor Vessel Coverage

1

360° Marine Donor Antenna

An omnidirectional marine antenna installed at a suitable and preferably elevated exterior point receives usable cellular signals from coastal mobile base stations while the vessel changes heading and position.

2

iRepeater and RF Distribution

The Stella Doradus Marine repeater processes the supported cellular bands and distributes the amplified RF signal to the required indoor areas. LineAmp units can extend coverage in larger or multi-zone vessels.

3

Indoor Antennas and Monitoring

Indoor antennas distribute the mobile signal to cabins and shared spaces. iRepeater and LineAmp operating status can be monitored remotely for professional maintenance and technical support.

RADIO HORIZON

How Far Offshore Can Mobile Coverage Work?

Around 30 km can be used as an application reference in some marine installations, but it is not a fixed maximum coverage distance. Real cellular reach at sea depends on the height of the vessel antenna, the height and location of the coastal base station, operating frequency, available RF signal level, antenna placement and propagation conditions.

Installing the 360° donor antenna as high as practical increases the radio horizon. Under favourable conditions, usable cellular signals may be received from base stations beyond 30 km, while in other conditions the practical range may be shorter.

Important: A repeater does not create a mobile network signal. A usable operator signal must be present at the donor antenna location for the system to provide onboard coverage.

SCALABLE ARCHITECTURE

From Yachts to Large Ships

A Stella Doradus Marine repeater installation should be dimensioned from RF measurements, vessel layout, deck structure, cable lengths, splitter losses and the number of required indoor coverage zones.

  • Scalable system architecture for large yachts, passenger ships, ferries, tankers and other vessels.
  • GSM, 3G, 4G and 5G service support on the cellular frequency bands included in the selected model.
  • Multiple users can use the available operator network without a dedicated customer SIM in the repeater.
  • iRepeater and LineAmp can be combined for large and multi-zone RF distribution systems.
  • Indoor antennas can be positioned throughout cabins, corridors, lounges and technical areas according to RF design.
  • Automatic RF-control functions help maintain stable repeater operation and protect the operator network.
Stella Doradus has documented a large-vessel architecture tested with 200 indoor antennas serving up to 600 standard cabins. The required number of LineAmps and antennas for a new vessel must still be determined from the actual RF design and onboard layout.
REMOTE OPERATIONS

Remote Monitoring, Alerts and Technical Control

Remote monitoring is particularly useful on professional marine installations where equipment may be distributed across several decks or where technical staff need visibility without physically visiting each device.

System Status

Operating condition, supported band status and relevant RF parameters can be reviewed centrally.

Alarm and E-mail Alerts

Depending on system configuration, alarms and operating events can be monitored remotely and e-mail notifications can be generated.

Remote Technical Support

Power, RF-level, oscillation, band and device-status information can help technical teams identify issues before an onboard visit.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Marine Vessels and Onboard Coverage Areas

Yachts and Mega Yachts

Cabins, salons, crew areas and technical spaces where the vessel structure reduces otherwise usable coastal cellular signals.

Passenger Ships and Ferries

Multi-deck passenger areas, cabins and common spaces requiring planned RF distribution and scalable indoor antenna architecture.

Commercial Vessels

Tankers and other professional vessels where onboard cellular coverage and remote technical monitoring are operational requirements near shore.
