Overview

What is the Poynting PUCK-5 antenna?

The PUCK-5 antenna is an omnidirectional antenna that combines two cellular, two Wi-Fi and one GNSS element in the same Ø100 × 36 mm housing. The five elements connect to the matching router ports with separate cables; a single hole in the vehicle roof does the job of five antennas.

With 2×2 MIMO on both cellular and Wi-Fi, it is ideal for vehicle routers with a GNSS input (Teltonika, Peplink, Sierra Wireless, etc.). If GNSS is not needed, PUCK-7 can be chosen; if Wi-Fi is not needed, PUCK-4.

  • 2× 4G/5G: 617–6000 MHz, 2×2 MIMO, 5G RedCap support
  • 2× Wi-Fi: 2.4 and 5–7.2 GHz, 2×2 MIMO, up to Wi-Fi 7
  • 1× GNSS: GPS/GLONASS, active (LNA) element
  • IP69K, vandal-resistant housing; white and black

Frequency coverage

Cellular, Wi-Fi and GNSS in one housing, with MIMO

The two cellular elements of the PUCK-5 antenna operate in 2×2 MIMO across 617–6000 MHz, covering all common 4G/5G bands. The two Wi-Fi elements provide 2×2 MIMO in the 2.4 GHz and 5–7.2 GHz bands; the GNSS element receives GPS and GLONASS signals.

Mounting options

PoleMagneticSpigotSurface / deskWall

Mount the PUCK-5 antenna on a top surface such as the vehicle roof so that the GNSS element has a clear view of the sky.

PUCK family

Same housing, different configurations

All PUCK V2 models use the same Ø100 × 36 mm housing; the difference lies in the number of cellular, Wi-Fi and GNSS elements inside.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which routers is the PUCK-5 antenna suitable for?
It is suitable for vehicle and industrial routers with two cellular, two Wi-Fi and one GNSS antenna port. Each element connects to the matching router port with a separate cable.
What is the difference between PUCK-5 and PUCK-7?
Both offer 2×2 MIMO cellular and 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi. PUCK-5-V2 additionally includes a GPS/GLONASS element. For applications that do not need location data, PUCK-7 is sufficient.
What is the difference between PUCK-5 and PUCK-3?
PUCK-3-V2 carries a single element (SISO) for each technology. PUCK-5-V2 offers 2×2 MIMO on cellular and Wi-Fi, providing higher speeds and a more stable connection with two-port routers.
How do I connect it to a router with RP-SMA Wi-Fi ports?
The antenna comes with SMA (male) connectors; with the RP-SMA adapters in the box it connects directly to routers with RP-SMA Wi-Fi ports.
Is the GNSS element active?
Yes. The GNSS element has a built-in LNA and is powered through the router's GNSS port. Check that your router supports an active GNSS antenna.
